Prequel to the Sequel

First attempt at rail shooting.

Posted in Editorial by brmeyer3 on 07/19/2009

Saturday afternoon i had an assignment to shoot a steam locomotive, SP 4449, coming through naperville. Its on a cross country trip and is a big deal i guess in the rail community. I was told it was supposed to arrive between 4 and 5 and i got there at 3:30. While i was waiting, i met up with a photog from the Naperville Sun, Corey, and his father who is a rail buff was with him. After finding out the train was still an hour away, the 3 of us went to the bar that was 100 feet away from the station and grabbed a quick drink.  The train finally came through at 6:45, and people went crazy trying to get their photos, some guys even ran out onto the tracks to grab a shot. It was only stopped for about 3 minutes, not giving me a lot of time to get some shots, and the mob of train geeks made it a million times harder and i had to throw some bows to get to the front of the pack.
